Who Adopts?

Are you the right “fit” for adoption?

- Out of all demographics, married couples are adopting the most, carrying the rate of approximately 71% of all adoptions. Aside from married couples, approximately 23% of single women are adopting and even lower percentages of unmarried couples and single males.

- Less than 10% of international adoptions take place in homes where parents are more than 50 yrs difference in age from the child.

- More than 95% of children adopted internationally are being adopted by parents that have more than a high school education.

- 79% of all adopted children end up in a neighborhood that is classified as “safe” and 76% live near urban areas.

As important and meaningful as these numbers can be to some people, God does not have requirements or statistics for families looking to adopt. If someone feels called to adopt and has a place in their heart for a
child in need, He will lead you down the right path. Yes, there are requirements that have to be met by agencies for the safety and well being of the child, but God does not have this list. If you are worrying or fearful of making the right decision, place these feelings in God’s hands. He has the answers. You don’t have to be a specific age, race, or a certain profession. You don’t have to live in a “qualified” neighborhood or an urban area. A loving heart for Christ and an open heart for a child in need is a perfect place to start!
