Uganda Trip Recap

WOW! That’s really all that comes to mind every time I stop and think about our trip. No amount of effort on our part could have ever orchestrated the experience that we had. We arranged for a driver, made guesthouse reservations, planned our meals, and coordinated with ministries. And even though those details went incredibly smooth, they seem so insignificant compared to everything else.
One of our trip members had a theme verse for the trip for himself and it was Exodus 23:20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” This could not more accurately describe the whole of our time. The LORD most assuredly paved the road, placed us on that road, and prepared the destination before us.
We wanted to share with you just a few of the amazing things God did while we were there. These are all things that we could not have been a part of without your financial support towards Hope Grafted In. Many of you gave to specific projects and some of you just give generally; we want you to know that we leveraged your resources to the best of His ability in us.
- It was normal market time for Sangaalo, so we were able to take the list from Damalie and mark it all off, filling the pantry up again.
- We were honored to deliver, on your behalf, gifts from sponsors to their children. This exchange is more impactful than we could ever describe.
- We gave a small gift to every staff member and the directors at both homes, creating a reaction of singing and dancing like we have never experienced from them before. Pouring into these adults is just as much a joy as the children.
- There was no food or list at Ebenezer, so we had the joy of making our own and filling their pantry. We even were able to get meat, vegetables, and fruit that they never have.
- We were able to replace a destroyed water tank at Sangaalo and provide for a better method of installation this time around.
- Finally had the opportunity to meet in person a ministry we have communicated with for some time, leaving them with some funds to help cover school fees for their program.
- We passed on the gift of 9 months rent for the director of Ebenezer to have a separate home for his family and a motorbike to get him around. This, we believe, will help protect the longevity and health of the ministry.
- We had the chance to see the results of a previous HGI grant that helped build a school building for a local oppressed tribe. It was full of children who are redefining their future.
- We purchased school supplies for the local primary school near Ebenezer, as a gesture of unifying the community.
- We had the great honor of purchasing land for the future of Ebenezer Children’s Ministry. Seeing this next step encourages us to no end.
- We took food to five desperate families in the community surrounding Ebenezer. Our desire was to shine the light of Jesus through the partnership of Ebenezer to lost and hurting people.
This is just a taste. I can’t even imagine what the trip would have looked like without these moments. We know that HE is the one to be praised and none of this would have been possible without Him. He did it all. But we also want to say thank you for allowing Him to use you as a vessel to be a part of it. We pray that you will receive an outpouring of His blessings and joy because you were obedient to the call.
We will not soon forget this trip. We pray we never forget the presence and provision of our sweet Jesus who was with us wherever we went, continually making a way. A way to Himself. A way for us all. ”For in him we live and move and have our being.”

If this stirs something inside of you and you would like to be a part of an experience like this, we have a trip to Kenya coming up this spring. Find all the details here: http://hopegraftedin.org/hgi-trip-to-kenya/
