Ebenezer Quarterly Update

Ebenezer Children’s Ministry is extremely grateful for every support and encouragement from every key player in the ministry. Your support matters a lot in our existence. May the Almighty God richly bless you in your endeavors.
Marathon
The ministry organized and participated in a marathon race organized by hope grafted-in in a bid to raise funds for buying blankets and other necessities to the Orphans and other vulnerable children. The race of a distance of 5 km was largely participated by mostly the orphans themselves, the staff and the directors. It took 1 hour 30 minutes for the winner to cross the line. To us it was voluntary as nobody was willing to register officially with money. We extend our gratitude to the vision bearer of the marathon project and we hope that its goals were realized. The winner in the boy’s category was Bashir Mudangha in
primary seven and Darphin Mugala in primary five emerged winner in the girl’s category.
This was done on Saturday,23rd of April 2016
Bicycles
By God’s grace we were lucky to be earmarked by World Bicycle Relief as worthy to receive bicycles for the OVC’s who foot long distances to school. This donation was a great blessing to us in that the learners who got these bicycles started reporting to school in time and also on a regular basis. We hope that more bicycle relief shall be extended to us so as to benefit more OVC’s out there.
Staff enrollment
The ministry school opened the first term on a vibrant note with staff members reporting on date. We managed to recruit a new coordinator and other new staff members to replace the few who did not turn up. The school now has 13 teaching staff, a bursar, security personnel, and a school messenger.
Classrooms
We tried our best and constructed a wooden classroom block of two classes so as to create more space for the learners.
We still have a challenge in terms of classes in that out of 10 classrooms needed to accommodate pupils from nursery to P.7, we only have 6 classrooms so far. We have to divide the big classrooms so as to cover the existing gap. We hope that funds shall soon be acquired towards this project.
Sound equipment /Public Address system
By God’s grace sister Cindy on behalf of hope Grafted-in and her church stood with us and solicited funds to buy church machines. Two speakers, Amp mixer, microphones, pins and cables were got. From then till
now certain areas in church ministry have been softened more especially public ministry. There is joy all over the church due to this. However we hope to add more bass speakers and also purchase a key board since the one we now have is not ours.
Conference
Am happy to report that a team from AWWA blessed us with a heated message in our conference held in March 2016. This was our first conference this year. We had quite a large gathering with people coming from all the surrounding sub counties and villages of Kibuku. We also visited one of our neighboring churches in Kagumu from where we concluded our conference. We were really blessed.
Anniversary Celebrations
Our church made one year in March this year. It was all joy as we celebrated the anniversary. People rejoiced. Dancing and singing was the order of the day.Church membership has been growing by the day. We are lucky to have elderly men and women joining our church. I believe this is a sign of firmness. Because of increase in membership, we are now preparing to move out of the classroom by building a temporal structure aside. The work has already started. We shall have you posted on this development.
Gospel Outreach by Man Up team
We hosted the Man Up team who came with bibles and balls to give to schools. Together with Man Up team we visited Kibuku primary school, Kibuku S.S, Alliance High School, Ebenezer Children’s Ministry primary school, Bright Future High school, Kagunu primary school and Kagumu S.S and Ryama primary school. The tour was successful except the bibles and balls were very few and could not meet the demand. However the main goal was attained as many learners gave their lives to Christ. We hope that more of these outreaches will be organized because the harvest is really ripe.
Feeding of the children
Our special appreciation goes to the sponsors who have been faithful and continued to send the sponsorship funds that have enabled us look after our dear children.
We found it easy in these four months as funds were wired in time to meet our day today requirements.
Supplementary nutrition program
Our children have been blessed with this program. The supplementary funds was increased to 300 dollars per month can fully care for our intended manuel, we have used it to procure food like eggs, beef, fruits, Ripe bananas, water melon, pawpaw, passion fruits and greens for the children.
Farming activities (Crop farming)
In our first season we have been able to plant maize, beans and sweatpotoes. This food will help to reduce the costs of purchase of food. Also through doing this our children acquire skills, knowledge of modern crop farming which includes seasons, disease and pest control, weeds and storage since we encourage them to participate.
School cost sharing sponsorship programThe school sponsorship program is still on and is steadily increasing. The number of sponsored children is now 15. We appreciate those sponsors who have sacrificed so much towards this program. The need is still big owing to the fact that the majority of our community is very low income earners and mostly depends on farming for survival. Therefore cost sharing is a remedy somehow since it reduces on the amount payable for tuition.
Shoes
Once we had a need of shoes for the orphaned children of Ebenezer Children’s home. But as I write now that need was met. We received over 60 pairs of shoes for our children which we hope will serve for quite a
while. Almost all children were able to receive each a pair of footwear. Thank you so much for this support.
Recruitment
Sometime in this quarter we recruited another baby orphan by the name of Loyce from Bulangira. She was 5 months old by the time we received her into Ebenezer community. She immediately received attention and a specialized diet was accorded to her.
Land for the Children’s home `
It is good news to report that the land from where to establish and relocate the children’s home is finally cleared. Architectural work is ongoing and very soon we will be able to share that with you when the plans are finished our plans for new family home campaign. We shall keep you posted on this.
Conclusion
It is important to let you know that we still need you. We still need your support. The challenges ahead of us are very many. We love and cherish every moment we share with you.
Thank you all.
