The Growing Wennemar Family

We were honored to close out 2013 by awarding our 4th adoption grant. What a joy it has been to read so many stories of families answering the call to adopt. Meet the Wennemar family:

“Bob and I are blessed beyond measure to have four, beautiful, unique children: Reilly (10), Chase (8), Piper (5) and Amina (3). Our adoption journey really began almost 4 years ago when we began the process to adopt from Ethiopia. Eighteen months later, Amina came home. She has changed our family, our perspective and our life in so many ways.

Feeling the Lord’s call, we prayed and waited, waited and prayed, before beginning the process once again to add a child to our family through adoption. With a great love and appreciation for the culture and people of Ethiopia, we decided our adoption journey would take us back to Africa. We moved one foot in front of the other, completing documents and attending appointments.

When we were nearly ready to turn in our dossier, we received an email that changed our course dramatically. That email stated that there were older, waiting children in Haiti in need of families. We responded to this “call” and within a 24 hour period, we said yes to one little girl waiting for a family. While the last month has been filled with some uncertainty, one thing has remained clear. Our change of course was no accident. We will move, one foot in front of the other, watching in anticipation of how our story will unfold.”
