Sangaalo March Update

From time to time, we are made aware of individuals sending messages to contacts and friends of Hope Grafted In, claiming to have information about ministries. They may seek funds directly, or claim to have information or represent ministries. These communications are not authorized and should be brought to our attention immediately. If you are solicited or contacted and something does not seem right, do not reply to these messages, but contact Shelley Brown at shelley@hopegraftedin.org

Our dear friends, we want to take up this opportunity to greet you in Jesus’ mighty name. Thank you for all you are doing for His Kingdom. As Sangaalo family, we are doing well. The children and staff are doing well. It now seems the rains are coming back and we are thankful to God for that. It has been so dry and things have not been easy, with the prices of almost everything shooting very high. We pray that it continues to rain. I am happy to share with you this end of February update.

We want to thank you all for the support. Feeding is always the biggest consumer of the resources and if it were not your support, we would not handle the overwhelming expenses of feeding. Much as we sometimes experience inadequacy which may be caused by factors like price fluctuations, weather changes etc, we at least always have a plate on the table for these children. The dedicated staff are working hard to see that the children are well.

One of our kids, Daniel who is HIV positive was identified with some abnormalities while walking. This little boy took long to walk than normal and when he started walking, he is instead tiptoeing (the heals do not touch the ground). The Doctor however, advised that we need to see a surgeon. We took him to Entebbe and he is undergoing treatment. We keep praying for a successful process for him.

I am also happy to let you know that we have received a set of twins of two months from Western part of Uganda. These are two months olds whose mother passed on shortly after delivery. These babies are not in good condition with a terrible cough and malnutrition. They are now undergoing treatment. We pray for their recovery.

Another good news is that one of our cows delivered a calf. We now have some little milk that we supplement the feeding. It is not that much because the prolonged dry spell has affected the feed such as grass and dairy formula so has effected her milk production. But we are thankful for that.

We have been able to make some home visits to follow up on some of our children that we resettled. Among those visited is Andrew. We found him doing well and is fully used to the environment now. It is quite far so you cannot make more than one family. It is about 2 hour drive from Kampala. Michael is healthy, happy and at school. We were so glad to see him again.

Prayer items.

We are having a feeding program for the community children who attend our school but it is a struggle since we do not have funding for it. I pray that we get sponsorship for this program. We are currently feeding them on porridge instead of solid food, but I know God will provide.

Our other prayer items and needs from last few months still stand and will be carried forward until they are slowly accomplished.

  • Completion of the paving project. Remaining NEED: $2500 More detailed info on this project.
  • Purchase of new dining tables and chairs for the children $750
  • Repairs and/or replacement of children’s beds and beddings $500
  • Purchase of food supplements for the children ($300 monthly)
  • Boosting of the Microcredit savings plan for vulnerable women ($25-$100 gift per woman)

Give a gift to Sangaalo

Bye for now and blessings

Damalie
