Sangaalo December Update

A message from Damalie

With love, I send greetings to you all and thank you so much for the support you continuously offer to Sangaalo Babies Home. Here, we are doing well and God is gracious. As we close the month of November, I am glad to share with you about the progress of the ministry including some achievements as well as challenges.

The Children

Our children are doing quite well and are growing, though some have had some complications. Some children have had some rashes while others had oral thrush and diarrhea but thankful to God that they are doing better. Children who were malnourished during admission to the babies’ home are improving steadily. We keep praying.

Our Staff

Although we cannot currently afford to recruit the desired number of staff due to financial constraints, the few ones we have are committed and working hard. Even when it comes to carrying water on their heads from the borehole and doing all the laundry by hand.

Sponsoring a Child

We are so thankful for our sponsors. We have many children who still need a sponsor. To find out more information, email us. Sangaalo Sponsorships

The Farm

The cows are doing well. We are hoping that one of the cows will deliver around January 2017, and this will help supply the milk for the babies if well fed. The work on the farm is progressing and the piggery unit is taking its course. The farm would be ready for the cows to be shifted, but the only challenge is the house for the farm attendant, whom we want to live on the new site for security purposes. However, the cows are taken over to this new farm site to graze in the mornings and brought back in the afternoons.
We are now harvesting our tomatoes and the children are enjoying them. Our small banana plantation is healthy, and we are planting more, which is expected to be ready by the end of next year (2017) We have planted some few onions as well as some few tomato plants which will be ready for harvesting by the end of February 2017
We have made a seed/nursery bed for Egg plants and amaranthus which we will be transplanting within one month from now. All these are aimed at boosting the children’s diet.

Projects/Current Needs

  • Completion of the paving project. Remaining NEED: $2500 More detailed info on this project.
  • Purchase of new dining tables and chairs for the children
  • Repairs and/or replacement of children’s beds and beddings
  • Purchase of food supplements for the children ($300 monthly)
  • Boosting of the Microcredit savings plan for vulnerable women ($25-$100 gift per woman)

Give to Sangaalo’s needs. Thank you!

Thank you for being Jesus’ hands extended to these little ones throughout this Year. Your generous hearts will always be remembered and noticed. Together we can. Merry Christmas and a blessed 2017.
